The Division Resurgence

The Division Resurgence — Overview

The Division Resurgence is a free-to-play third-person RPG shooter from Ubisoft, bringing the full tactical looter-shooter systems of Tom Clancy's The Division to mobile and PC. It launched globally on iOS and Android on March 31, 2026 during the franchise's 10th anniversary celebrations, arrived on PC via Ubisoft Connect in April 2026, and gets its dedicated Steam storefront release on August 5, 2026 -- this page covers the full game as it stands at that Steam launch, not just a Steam-specific slice of it.

Story and Setting

Resurgence is a canonical interquel set in New York City, between the events of the original Division and The Division 2. You play a First Wave SHD agent who, after being knocked into a month-long coma following the first game's events, wakes up to find the Joint Task Force (JTF) losing its grip on Manhattan. Returning factions include the Rikers, Cleaners, and Raiders, joined by a new tech-savvy scavenger faction called the Freemen (also written Free Men), who oppose SHD authority as the primary new antagonist force.

Specializations: The Class System

Adapted from The Division 2 and simplified for mobile, Resurgence uses a Specialization system as its class layer: 5 total specializations, 4 available from the start and 1 unlocked through story progression -- Demolitionist, Bulwark, Field Medic, Tech Operator, and Vanguard. Each comes with a signature weapon, two gadget skills, an ultimate ability, and a branching talent tree split into two distinct focus paths, and you can freely switch between them at any time.

Power Score, Not Character Level

Endgame readiness is measured by Power Score -- an aggregate of gear stats, weapon levels, mod quality, and account-wide achievements -- rather than raw character level. A piece of gear found at level 10 can be upgraded all the way to the level 40 cap if its underlying stats and talents are strong, so evaluating gear by its talents and damage-type coverage matters more than chasing rarity color alone.

The Armory and Damage Types

The Armory system catalogs every weapon and gear piece in the game, even ones you haven't looted yet, and lets you apply Tactical Augmentation Modules that upgrade an entire weapon model at once -- any M700 marksman rifle you find or loot benefits from an upgrade applied through the Armory, not just the specific copy you were holding when you earned it. Weapons also carry one of three damage types: blast, shredding, or piercing.

Endgame and PvP

The Dark Zone -- a franchise staple since the original 2016 game -- returns as extraction-based PvPvE content, alongside a structured Conflict PvP mode (including Domination, a normalized 4v4 mode capturing three flags). Endgame PvE content includes the Legendary Challenge and Lone Wolf Challenge for well-geared, well-coordinated squads.
