STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT Wiki - FAQ

Do I need to have played the original STEINS;GATE?

No -- RE:BOOT is a full remake specifically designed to be more approachable for newcomers, while still including new content (a new worldline and ending) for returning fans.

When exactly does it release, and why do dates differ by platform?

In Japan, PC and Xbox Series X|S launch August 20, 2026, while PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 follow October 29, 2026. That same October 29 date is also when the game launches in North America and Europe, across all platforms simultaneously.

What's actually new compared to the original or STEINS;GATE ELITE?

The base scenario is drawn from STEINS;GATE ELITE, refined for pacing and readability, plus an entirely new worldline and ending scenario not present in any prior version. Every character, background, and event still image has also been redrawn from scratch, with roughly double the event stills and about 20% more background visuals than the original.

Have the voices and music been redone too?

Yes -- all in-game voices have been re-recorded, and all background music has been remade by returning composer Takeshi Abo.

Is the remake controversial among existing fans?

To some degree, yes -- while the directors have said the original now feels dated for newcomers, some longtime fans have publicly questioned the need for a remake of a story still readily playable in its original form, a genuine, ongoing point of community discussion worth knowing honestly.

How long is the game?

Approximately 30-50 hours, according to the official Steam listing.
