ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs
ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs — Overview
ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs is a narrative-driven shop management sim from Mandragora (I Am Future, Skyhill), published by tinyBuild. It launches August 6, 2026 on PC via Steam, arriving with over 600,000 wishlists, a Top 100 wishlist ranking, and a spot among Steam Next Fest's 50 Most-Played Demos -- strong numbers for a small remote-first indie studio.
The Setting and Hook
You run a small electronics repair shop on Akiba (Akihabara), Tokyo's real-world electronics district, in the mid-2000s, restoring Y2K-era devices -- game consoles, cell phones, handhelds, digital pets, home appliances, music players, and cameras. The real hook is officially licensed Atari hardware: the Atari 2600, Jaguar, and Lynx are all confirmed as real, licensed devices you repair in-game, alongside fictional but clearly inspired devices like the Patento BS, which the developers themselves have jokingly described as "legally distinct" from a certain iconic handheld.
The Repair Loop
Each device follows the same tactile process: unscrew, clean, solder, repaint, and reassemble using your toolset. If you're missing a part, an old-school in-game web browser lets you shop online for spare parts -- though as one early player has noted, the marketplace isn't scam-free, adding a small layer of real risk to what's otherwise a relaxing loop.
Customers Aren't Just Loot Drops
Every device arrives with a customer attached, and conversations with them branch into a genuinely nonlinear, multiple-ending narrative. Specific confirmed story beats include choosing whether to report a disturbing discovery inside a former gangster's phone, or helping a lovestruck student work up the nerve to confess to his crush -- your choices affect both their lives and your shop's future.
Business Management
Beyond repairs themselves, you're running a real business -- greeting customers, accepting devices, managing finances, and deciding which online orders and spare-part purchases are worth the money.
