Mortal Shell II Guides
Getting Started in Mortal Shell II
- ## Before You Start
- Try the free Open Beta first -- it's still live on Steam as of this writing, covering the prologue and an early open-world section with 2 playable Shells, giving a real, representative taste of the combat before the full release.
- If you're a returning Mortal Shell player, recalibrate around the removed stamina system -- combat here rewards more continuous aggression than the original's more measured, stamina-gated approach.
- ## Choosing a Starting Shell
- Eredrim the Venerable is a reasonable starting pick if you want durability and straightforward, powerful attacks that trade blows well without breaking poise. Proxima the Broodseeker suits a more mobile, pull-and-strike playstyle using her hook arm. Tiel the Acolyte rewards a faster, more evasive approach.
- ## Managing Weapon Upgrades
- Since weapons differ meaningfully in attack speed, reach, recovery, and posture pressure, prioritize upgrading a primary weapon's frequently-used attacks before spending resources on narrow, highly situational upgrades.
- ## Common Mistakes
- * Assuming Harros is a real long-term Shell choice -- he's confirmed as tutorial-only and cannot be equipped past the prologue.
- * Trusting any source claiming to list all 8 Shells by name before launch -- only 4 have been officially confirmed as of this writing.
