Mortal Shell II Guides

Which Shell Should You Start With in Mortal Shell II?

This isn't a repeat of the Overview page -- it's a closer look at how the 4 currently-named Shells actually differ, based on official gameplay reveals and Open Beta testing ahead of the August 20 launch.

Understanding the No-Stamina Combat First

Every Shell benefits from the same core change: combat is no longer gated by a depleting stamina bar. This means your choice of Shell is less about managing a limited resource and more about which combat rhythm and range genuinely suits you -- close, durable trading; mobile hook-and-pull; or fast, evasive strikes.

Eredrim the Venerable: The Safe, Familiar Choice

If you played the original Mortal Shell, Eredrim will feel like coming home -- slow but powerful attacks, built around absorbing damage and trading blows head-on, now with improved agility over his first appearance. A strong pick if you want a durable, forgiving playstyle while you learn the sequel's other new systems.

Proxima the Broodseeker: Mobile and Versatile

A genuinely new addition, built around a left-arm hook that pulls enemies into range (or pulls you to them) for follow-up strikes. If you enjoyed aggressive repositioning tools in other soulslikes, Proxima rewards that same instinct here.

Tiel the Acolyte: Fast and Evasive

One of the two Shells available in the current Open Beta alongside Harros, Tiel leans into an agile, rogue-like approach -- a good fit if you prefer dodging and punishing openings over trading blows directly.

Harros: Don't Get Attached

Harros is confirmed as a tutorial-only Shell that cannot be equipped past the prologue -- treat your time with him as a controls introduction, not a long-term build decision.

A Fair Warning About the Other 4 Shells

8 total playable Shells are officially confirmed, but only these 4 have actual names and details as of this writing. Be skeptical of any guide claiming to list a complete 8-name roster before launch -- that information genuinely isn't public yet.
