MineGeon: Renegades

MineGeon: Renegades Wiki

MineGeon: Renegades is a co-op sci-fi roguelite bullet-hell from Kickstone Studio, a Chilean independent developer founded in 2023 by Cristóbal Pizarro and Nicolás Moreno. It launched July 28, 2026 on PC via Steam, following a demo that first launched December 9, 2025.

The Premise

After a failed heist, a crew known as the Renegades is forced to flee and crash-lands near the mysterious, dying planet PAIMO. With no other choice, they descend into its depths in search of help -- and uncover secrets that should have remained buried. You can descend solo or with up to two friends (3 players total), coordinating abilities and sharing gadgets to survive.

Choose Your Renegade

Three playable Renegades are confirmed, each with unique weapons, abilities, and an ultimate: Marshall, a resilient tank; Trevor, a deadly gunslinger built for DPS; and Ari, a balanced engineer. The developer has not published detailed ability lists beyond this, so exact individual skills remain unconfirmed as of this writing.

A Real Tension Within Co-op: Betrayal Pays

A genuinely distinctive design choice: while teamwork is essential to survive the deepest challenges, the game explicitly encourages breaking away from your group at times to maximize personal rewards. Minerals collected mid-run must be manually sent back to your ship to bank them safely -- the deeper you go without extracting, the greater both the reward and the risk, creating real tension between staying with your team and cashing out solo.

Six Biomes, Each With Its Own Boss

PAIMO is divided into 6 hand-crafted biomes, each culminating in its own boss battle testing your skills and strategy to the limit. Rather than a simple branching-path structure, runs work by selecting a batch of stages to clear before facing that biome's boss -- a real structural distinction from many other roguelites. Throughout, you'll face the Scavengers, a persistent hostile faction determined to stop your descent for reasons the game keeps you guessing about.

Choose Your Path: A Genuine Team Vote

Mysterious monoliths scattered through the depths let your entire team vote on which branching route to take next -- a real, co-op-specific decision mechanic rather than a single player unilaterally choosing the way forward.

Base-Building: The Galactic Express

Back aboard your ship, the Galactic Express terminal lets you spend collected minerals on over 200 items, decorations, and themed objects to customize your ship's interior. You can visit other Renegades' ships online to see their setups -- a real, social base-building layer alongside the roguelite combat loop.

An Honest Note on Reception

Reception has been genuinely mixed (64% positive on Steam). Reviewers have generally praised the core shooting feel and the mining-extraction twist on the roguelite formula, but some have specifically noted that weapons could hit harder and that gadgets tend to nudge stats rather than meaningfully transform builds. One review summed it up as sitting in the shadow of genre standard-bearer Enter the Gungeon -- competent and enjoyable, but not yet reaching that level.
