Best Tools and Equipment in Lethal Company

With limited funds and inventory space, picking the right tools matters more than hoarding everything -- Lethal Company's Ship's Terminal shop sells all the essentials, but budget carefully since your crew shares one pool of company credits.

Shovel is the standard first buy at just 30 credits -- cheap, but weak alone against large enemies. It shines paired with a Zap Gun: stun the target, then finish it off with 5-6 shovel hits.

Stun Grenade (40 credits) is the better early pick for surviving fast enemies specifically -- pull the pin, throw within 3 seconds, and anything caught in the blast gets stunned long enough to escape or counterattack.

Zap Gun (400 credits) only becomes worth its steep price on harder moons -- a constant stun-inducing electric stream that turns any teammate's melee weapon into a reliable finisher.

Boombox is pure utility -- drop it somewhere and follow the sound back to navigate, though be aware the noise can also draw monsters toward it (and toward you, if you're nearby).

Jetpack, the most expensive item at 700 credits, is a genuine risk-reward pick -- great for escaping danger at night or speedrunning an extraction, but battery life is short and misuse can cause it to explode.

Since suits are purely cosmetic in Lethal Company, don't spend credits expecting any survival benefit from them -- put that budget into actual tools instead.
