HITHURT Guides
Getting Started in HITHURT
- ## Before You Start
- This is specifically a local couch game for two players -- make sure you have a second controller or input method ready, since it's not designed around single-player or online play.
- Practice tracking both your HIT and HURT simultaneously in a low-pressure match first -- since splitting attention between offense and defense is the core skill, budget real time to get comfortable with it before competitive play.
- ## Using Map Hazards to Your Advantage
- Since each of the 9 confirmed maps has unique gimmicks like saw blades, bounce pads, and moving blocks, learn a map's specific layout before assuming your usual strategy will work identically -- what wins on one map may not translate directly to another.
- ## Using Your HIT Defensively, Not Just Offensively
- Since your HIT can knock an opponent's HIT around or into hazards, don't think of your HIT purely as an attacking tool -- using it defensively to disrupt your opponent's offense is confirmed as a real, valid strategy.
- ## Common Mistakes
- * Focusing entirely on chasing with your HIT while neglecting your HURT's safety -- both halves of your attention are confirmed as equally important to winning.
- * Ignoring map-specific hazards and physics -- ice physics and bouncy walls genuinely change how movement and positioning work compared to a standard flat arena.
