Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn Guides

Fast Leveling in Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn

Before You Start the Expansion

Confirm you own both Ashes of Malmouth and Forgotten Gods, and that your character has reached Fort Ikon -- Fangs of Asterkarn is not accessible without both prior expansions installed and that campaign checkpoint cleared.

The single most important thing to understand about the Berserker before you start leveling one: Onslaught and the wereforms do not work together. Onslaught is a default-attack replacer, and default-attack replacers are switched off while shapeshifted -- so decide early whether you're building around Onslaught with weapons, or committing to a Werewolf or Wereraven shapeshifted playstyle, rather than trying to blend both.

Wereraven specifically unlocks once you've advanced the Berserker mastery bar to its 10-point threshold -- this is a mastery-bar requirement, not tied to your character's overall level, so don't assume you need to hit a specific level milestone.

Once you've cleared the new campaign content, Ascendant Mode is where Fangs of Asterkarn's endgame really lives -- treat it as the expansion's actual final test, not the main story itself.

  • Trying to build Onslaught stacking and wereform shapeshifting into the same loadout -- the mechanic explicitly turns off default-attack replacers while transformed, so pick a lane.
  • Assuming your existing Ashes of Malmouth or Forgotten Gods build is automatically obsolete -- Ascendant Mode and item Ascension are explicitly designed to give existing builds a real reason to keep improving, not just push everyone toward the new mastery.
