Fields of Mistria Wiki
Fields of Mistria is a farming and life-sim RPG from Chicago-based NPC Studio, released into full 1.0 on August 5, 2026 -- exactly two years to the day after its original Early Access launch on August 5, 2024. It's a spiritual successor to the farm-sim RPGs of the late 90s onward, available on PC via Steam (Windows and native Linux), fully Steam Deck Verified, with no multiplayer planned. The Early Access price of $13.99 was confirmed to remain unchanged for the 1.0 release.
The Premise
You take over an overgrown but full-of-potential homestead in the idyllic village of Mistria, tucked between forest and sea, offered to you in exchange for helping restore the town after an earthquake wreaks havoc and strange magic begins flowing through the land. Unlike many genre peers, Fields of Mistria places a stronger emphasis on life-sim depth than a pure time-management farming loop, distinguished further by its anime-inspired art style and a genuine magic system woven directly into both farming and combat.
A Real Milestone: The Town Repair Story Concludes
With 1.0, the central Town Repair storyline -- the narrative thread about rebuilding Mistria and getting to know its residents -- reaches its intended conclusion, with the game and its storylines confirmed as completable as originally envisioned. NPC Studio has been direct that 1.0 is not the end of development, with further content planned periodically after launch.
Marriage, Children, and an Expanded Heart System
The headline 1.0 addition is the long-awaited relationship expansion: after maxing affection with a romance candidate, you can now propose, triggering a one-time wedding event, followed by marriage and children. The Heart Level cap has been raised to 10 (up from an original cap of 4, later 6, then 8 across earlier updates), unlocking a genuinely expanded pool of friendship and romance events. 12 total marriage candidates are confirmed, including two genuine secret unlocks: Caldarus, a dragon guardian, and Seridia, unlocked specifically by reaching level 100 in the mines and breaking a final seal that requires both Juniper and Eiland to already be at 8 hearts.
Farming, Magic, and Combat Intertwined
A real, distinctive design choice ties the game's quiet farming half to its dungeon-delving half: the same skill tree that unlocks spells to speed up farm work also strengthens your combat magic, so watering a field and clearing a mine floor never feel like two separate games. Beyond farming and combat, you fish, mine, cook, and grow closer to the town's residents across more than 50 confirmed crops.
Other Confirmed 1.0 Additions
The Saturday Market is now complete, with all NPC vendors finally appearing weekly. New home exterior customization options, additional dungeon and town content, Steam Achievements, additional Museum sets and rewards, and further Request Board quests all arrive alongside the relationship expansion -- plus, per the developers' own patch notes, a genuinely offbeat addition worth knowing about: a giant chicken.
