Big Walk FAQ
Can I play Big Walk solo?
No -- the game is entirely built around teamwork and talking. You could technically start a session and walk around briefly alone, but you won't get very far, since everything is designed for cooperative multiplayer.
Is there matchmaking?
No -- Big Walk has no random matchmaking. You bring your own group of friends, since it's designed as a long-form cooperative game meant to be played with the same people across multiple sessions, not thrown together with strangers.
Do I need a microphone?
No, but it helps. Text chat and gestures (point, wave, or just flail around) are fully supported and follow the same proximity and environmental restrictions as voice chat, though voice is the intended way to play.
How many players can join a session?
Between 2 and 12. Fewer players makes for a more focused co-op experience; closer to 12 becomes a fun, chaotic mess. The developers didn't design around one ideal number -- any group size in that range works.
Does Big Walk have crossplay?
Yes -- Steam (Windows and Mac), PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 players can all join the same hosted session together using a Join Code.
Who keeps the save file?
The host does. They need to start a session first before others can join, and if the host ends or disconnects from the session, all other players are disconnected too.
Is Big Walk connected to Untitled Goose Game?
Not narratively -- it's House House's next game after Untitled Goose Game, but Big Walk is a completely separate, story-light cooperative experience built around communication rather than the single-player mischief of the goose.
What kinds of puzzles are in Big Walk?
Confirmed types include miming, code decryption, singing, platforming, and even a basketball-style challenge -- many require splitting the group up so one player must describe something the others can't see, tying directly into the proximity voice chat system.
Is there a story?
It's light on traditional plot -- Big Walk is built around exploration, puzzles, and hanging out rather than a driving narrative. Discoveries and surprises exist throughout the world, but don't expect a heavy story-first experience.
What happens if a player disconnects mid-session?
If a regular player disconnects, the rest of the group can continue. If the host disconnects specifically, everyone else is disconnected too, since the host holds the save file -- pick a host who can reliably stay connected for the full session.
Is Big Walk related to Untitled Goose Game?
Not narratively -- it's House House's next game after Untitled Goose Game, but a completely separate, story-light cooperative experience built around communication rather than the single-player mischief of the goose.
Does Big Walk have PS5 trophies?
A pre-release PlayStation database listing (sourced from TrueTrophies, not yet confirmed by House House directly) reports 13 trophies: 1 Platinum, 10 Gold, and 2 Silver. The Platinum, Big Trophy, is reportedly awarded for unlocking every other trophy. Treat this as unconfirmed until the official live list appears at launch.
What is the music like?
The soundtrack is intentionally diegetic -- meaning music exists as a real part of the game world rather than a standard background score, conveyed through in-world objects like speakers you can actually find and interact with.
How do I actually join a friend's session?
If your friend is on your platform's friends list (Steam, PlayStation, etc.), their active game automatically appears in a friends menu you can join directly. If you aren't platform friends -- including across different platforms -- the host can share a short Join Code generated when they start the session instead.
What controllers are supported?
Both keyboard/mouse and most game controllers work well on PC. Notably, Big Walk also supports the Nintendo Switch 2's mouse mode specifically, on top of standard controller input.
