Character Customization in Big Walk

Big Walk's characters are simple, expressive shapes -- one hands-on previewer described theirs as looking like "a kid drew circles and then gave them legs," with no mouths on the character models at all.

The Twist: You Can't See Yourself

Here's the detail that makes customization genuinely interesting: because the game plays entirely in first-person, you can't actually see your own character while exploring. You can see your friends, but not yourself -- with one exception, a specific in-world location previewers have nicknamed "the salon," which contains a mirror.

How the Paintbrush System Works

Customization itself is done with a paintbrush: you pick a color from a wall of options and paint your character's three body sections -- bottom, middle, and head. Since you can't see the result on your own character in real time, and your friends are looking at a different part of the color wheel than you are, describing exactly which color you want becomes a genuine communication exercise -- previewers noted having to correct "hot pink" to "magenta" mid-conversation to get a teammate to understand.

This ties directly into the philosophy covered in the communication systems guide: Big Walk consistently turns ordinary tasks into conversations by design, and character creation is the very first example new players run into.

No Voice Cast, By Design

There are no named characters or voice actors in Big Walk -- communication is entirely proximity-based player voice chat (your own real voice) or text chat, not scripted dialogue. If you're looking for a traditional cast list, there isn't one to find; this is a deliberate design choice, not a gap in what's been announced.
