Warhounds

Warhounds Wiki

Warhounds is a hardcore, turn-based tactics game from Everplay DMCC, published by Brightika, Inc., set for release on PC via Steam on August 11, 2026, after roughly three years of development by a small team. The game surpassed 100,000 wishlists ahead of launch -- a milestone the developers themselves described as incredible for their size of studio.

The Premise

You command an elite mercenary unit known as the Warhounds, operating in an alternate near-future Africa, progressing through a full story-driven campaign where every mission directly affects the balance of an ongoing regional war shaped by competing military organizations, political movements, and powerful corporations. Inspired directly by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, missions unfold as 25-40 minute cinematic set-pieces across jungles, urban slums, military facilities, and business districts, ranging from sabotage and civilian rescues to joint operations and VIP evacuations.

No Fake RNG: True Ballistics

A genuinely core design pillar: Warhounds explicitly avoids fake randomness -- no random misses, no hidden percentages. Every action has clear, readable consequences, with high lethality meaning mistakes are punished and smart play is rewarded. Combat includes overwatch (setting up a cone of fire that triggers on enemy movement), reload actions, healing allies, grenades, and later-game skill-based additions like knife attacks, with a strong emphasis on flanking, verticality, and destructible cover.

Recruiting and Equipping Your Squad

Recruit unique named "veteran" fighters (who are confirmed to not have customization options) alongside generic "common" mercenaries (who do have confirmed character customization), upgrading your mobile base and equipping your squad with weapons, drones, exoskeletons, and advanced gear. The full release specifically adds professional voice acting, upgraded lighting, improved performance, and expanded character customization compared to earlier playtest builds.

An Honest, Explicit AI-Non-Use Statement

Worth knowing directly: the developers have explicitly stated that no generative AI is used to create content during gameplay, and that no other part of the game -- including code, 3D models, writing, dialogue, or voice acting -- uses AI in any form, specifically noting that placeholder portraits used only during the earlier playtest stage are not included in the current release build.
