Ciri's Combat and Weapons in The Witcher 4
The Witcher 4 has not released yet, so everything here comes from CD Projekt Red's official reveal trailer and a State of Unreal 2025 tech demo -- CDPR has explicitly stated the tech demo showcases engine capability rather than confirmed final gameplay, so treat specifics as subject to change before launch.
Ciri continues the series' signature dual-sword system: a Steel Sword for human enemies and mundane animals, and a Silver Sword for monsters and magical creatures. The silver sword shown is Zireael, the same sword with a distinctive ring-shaped hilt that Geralt gave her at the end of The Witcher 3 -- strongly suggesting that ending is canon for this story.
Her most notable new addition is the Chain Weapon, replacing Geralt's crossbow as her secondary tool. It grapples enemies at range, restrains them for follow-up strikes, and can be imbued with the Igni sign to set targets ablaze -- shown controlling a Bauk's movement in a confined cave in the cinematic trailer.
Ciri's magic goes well beyond Geralt's five signs -- she's described as a "Source Warlock," combining innate magical talent with formal sorcery training from Yennefer. In the trailer she's shown drawing water from cave walls and converting it into an electrical discharge, a level of elemental manipulation closer to full sorcery than a standard witcher sign.
Game Director Sebastian Kalemba has described Geralt's Witcher 3 combat as "block" and Ciri's new style as "liquid" -- lighter, faster, and built from scratch to reflect Kaer Morhen sword training blended with magical instruction, rather than reusing Geralt's animation set.
