Royalty Free-For-All Wiki

Royalty Free-For-All is a hand-drawn, Cuphead-styled platform fighter from AAAA Games, funded through Kickstarter and launching August 11, 2026 on PC via Steam (Mac and Linux included), with console ports planned using stretch-goal Kickstarter funding.

The Premise

The entire game is built around a genuinely charming idea: taking beloved public-domain characters, locations, and music and remixing them into a frenetic multiplayer brawl. Confirmed named fighters include reimagined takes on Dorothy ("Ruby Sniffer"), Sweeney Todd ("Screamshaver"), Mother Goose ("Proto Bird"), Lilith ("Sweetpea"), Lancelot ("Knighty Knight"), Oliver Twist, and The Big Bad Wolf, alongside an original addition inspired by yo-kai folklore, Sakura, who fights with a stealthy, technical moveset built around a kasa-obake parasol.

A Roster That Grew Through Crowdfunding

The base roster launched with 8 fighters, expanding via successfully funded Kickstarter stretch goals to add Bigfoot, Frankenstein, and Dante -- with the official Steam Community confirming "over a dozen fighters" at launch, jam-packed alongside additional stages and content.

Named Stages Drawn From Public Domain Works

Battles take place across locations directly referencing classic public-domain media: Old Macdonald's, the Center of the Earth, the Hundred Acre Wood, a steamboat (a nod to Steamboat Willie), Mushnick's Florist (a Little Shop of Horrors reference), and the Jolly Roger.

Real Veteran Composer Credits

Guest music was funded through Kickstarter stretch goals and includes contributions from David Wise and Grant Kirkhope -- both genuinely notable veteran video game composers -- alongside rising talents Evelyn Lark (also known as The Noble Demon) and Chipper Hammond.

Combat Designed for Both Newcomers and Veterans

The game is explicitly designed to be approachable: Light, Strong, and Special attacks can each be executed with a single button press whether grounded or airborne, for six total attack options. At the same time, genre-standard advanced techniques -- wavedashing, tech landing, foxtrots -- are preserved for longtime platform fighter veterans, alongside rollback netcode for online play and a new all-in Party Mode aimed specifically at friends who are new to the genre.

An Honest Note on Pre-Launch Technical Issues

As of the official pre-launch update, the developers have directly acknowledged that the Mac and Linux versions were experiencing some bugs, with fixes expected shortly before launch -- a real, transparent acknowledgment worth knowing if you're on either platform.
