Konekomi Castle Wiki
Konekomi Castle is a first-person, choose-your-own-adventure puzzle RPG from solo developer Joyless, self-published on PC, Mac, and Linux. The game was successfully funded via Kickstarter, and a specific release date has not yet been confirmed.
The Premise
Fifty years in the future, Japan is shaken by reports of a one-eyed alien. Chasing the story north, indie journalist Pandora gets caught in a snowstorm and seeks shelter in Konekomi Castle -- a castle inhabited by an alien species called the Konekomi. The Konekomi know English, but they have their own distinct language, culture, and routine. Some are hostile, some are simply surprised to see a human, and others just want to exploit you for their own ends.
Welcome to the Castle of Aliens
The castle's secrets are locked behind keycard doors, vents, and unmarked teleporters and elevators -- you'll need to crawl through vents, steal items, or befriend any Konekomi willing to talk to earn your way through. Each Konekomi has their own name and personality, with existing rivalries and friendships you can become a part of. The items you find and the relationships you build are entirely up to you, with multiple endings waiting to be uncovered and a new item confirmed to be gained for every ending you achieve -- meaning no two playthroughs are confirmed to be the same.
A Rich, Named Cast of Konekomi
Confirmed named residents of the castle include Jira, the supreme overseer whose danger is obvious before you even meet them; Mana, a two-faced tactician with real authority and hidden knowledge; Momo, a waist-high, endlessly affectionate huggable; The Big Sleepy, a room-sized Konekomi too tired to describe; Vini, an unsociable artist responsible for nearly every painting in the castle; Devi, a playful rogue who carves their own path; Reta, whose sole job is operating the castle's staircase; and Niko, the Announcer who commentates Katjo, the wildly popular sport played within Konekomi Castle. An earlier version of the game referred to its protagonist as Sakira rather than Pandora -- worth knowing if you encounter older material referencing that name.
Save Anywhere With a Holo-Camera
A genuinely charming confirmed mechanic: you save your journey anywhere by snapping a photo with your holo-camera, letting you pick up your progress from that exact point at any time.
