King's Well Wiki
King's Well is a dark steampunk roguelite poker deckbuilder from Fire Brick Games, an independent studio based in Istanbul, Turkiye, self-published on PC via Steam. A free demo launched May 4, 2026 alongside Steam's Deckbuilders Fest, currently holding a perfect Positive rating (100% of 32+ reviews).
The Premise
In this kingdom, the punishment for gambling is harsh: convicted gamblers are thrown into the King's Well, a massive industrial prison from which nobody has ever escaped. As the newest prisoner, you intend to prove that wrong -- using cunning strategy and card skills to fight your way out through a world of rusted gears, shadowy tunnels, and relentless mechanical horrors.
Turning Poker Hands Into Weapons
The core mechanic genuinely reinvents poker: feed cards into rusted machines scattered throughout the Well for instant attacks, armor, healing, and combos -- or hold onto them to build a stronger poker hand, creating a real, constant tension between immediate power and long-term payoff. Four confirmed distinct playable gamblers, including the Iron Veteran and the High Roller, each offer different starting weapons and playstyles.
A Real, Evolving Enemy System
The developers have directly overhauled combat with a dynamic enemy behavior system, adding 12 confirmed new enemy intents beyond simple attacking -- enemies can now disrupt your deck, weaken your cards, disable your machines, steal your gold, repair themselves, or charge up for a stronger attack on their next turn.
A Real Studio Story
Fire Brick Games' team spent nearly five years working together at another company, where they helped build Turkiye's first educational mobile game to reach over one million downloads globally, before reuniting to pursue original PC games under their own studio. Alongside King's Well, the team is also developing One Last Hand, a chaotic multiplayer party game where poker turns deadly.
