How many players can play co-op?
Up to 4 players online with crossplay and shared progression, or 2-player split-screen on console only.
What is Operation: Meteorite?
Three new prequel missions set one year before the main campaign, following Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson as they infiltrate and investigate a Covenant research vessel. Brutes make an exclusive appearance here, wielding Spikers and Brute Plasma Rifles not found in the original 10-mission campaign.
What is Campaign Remix?
A new mode letting you replay missions with randomized elements -- available weapons, enemy factions, and active Skulls all shuffle -- unlocked after collecting a certain number of the game's Skulls.
What changed in the first post-launch patch (July 29, 2026)?
A stability-focused update: fixes to AI behavior (Jackals now patrol properly in The Truth and Reconciliation, Spec Ops Elites near Rally Point Delta on Assault on the Control Room now engage correctly, the Hunter pair on The Silent Cartographer engages more consistently), stability improvements for the Pillar of Autumn mission and The Maw's intro cinematic on certain AMD driver versions, and a balance fix so a charged Plasma Pistol shot no longer instantly kills a player at full health and shields on any difficulty. Notably, the well-known 'LASO glitch' was not addressed in this first patch.
Was there early access before the general release?
Yes -- players who purchased the Premium Edition got early access starting July 23, 2026, five days ahead of the general July 28 release.
