Before You Start

This is still an Early Access game, and Obsidian has been direct that its development is shaped by ongoing community feedback -- expect the world, balance, and systems to keep evolving rather than treating the current state as final.

If you're a returning player from the original Grounded, don't assume your old hardware is enough -- Grounded 2 calls for meaningfully stronger specs than the first game, particularly for GPU performance.

Working Toward Your First Buggy

Prioritize progressing the main story quests toward Egg Hunt (quest 11) to unlock the Red Soldier Ant -- it's the earliest available mount and meaningfully speeds up traversal and resource-carrying well before you're ready for the more combat-focused Orb Weaver Spider later on.

Using Buggies Effectively

Beyond just faster travel, remember Buggies nearly double your inventory space and include a Resource Gathering Mode that vacuums up nearby materials automatically -- don't just treat them as a mount, use them as an active part of your resource-gathering loop.

Exploring Into the Abyss Content

If you're picking the game up around the PS5 launch, the new pond area (Mountains, Bayou, and underwater depths) is a genuinely major addition -- budget real time to explore it rather than assuming it's a minor side area.

Common Mistakes

• Assuming Buggies can permanently die and avoiding using them cautiously as a result -- they only get knocked out and recover on their own, so there's little downside to using them actively in tough fights.
• Bringing a Buggy too close to hazards like the Ice Cream Cart or Sizzle zones -- they'll instantly despawn near these, so plan your mounted approach to hazardous areas accordingly.
