Is Grounded 2 finished, or still in Early Access?
Still in Early Access as of this writing -- it began July 29, 2025 on Xbox and PC, and the PlayStation 5 version launching August 11, 2026 also arrives in Early Access, not as a full 1.0 release. No confirmed full-release date has been announced.
What are Buggies?
Tameable, rideable insect mounts -- the headline new system in Grounded 2. You hatch them from stolen eggs using a Hatchery, and they're mandatory for progression since several structures require them to traverse. Two are currently confirmed: the Red Soldier Ant and the Orb Weaver Spider, with more (including a Ladybug and "Watery Buggies") planned for future updates.
Can my Buggy die permanently?
No -- if a Buggy's health drops to zero, it's knocked out rather than killed, and will recover on its own over time if you don't reach it to revive it directly.
What does the Into the Abyss update add?
A major new area: the pond, explorable both above and below the water's surface, along with new regions (the Mountains, the Bayou), new progression paths, and new underwater dangers. It launches alongside the PS5 release on August 11, 2026.
Is there cross-play?
Yes -- full cross-play is confirmed between PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 once the PS5 version launches.
