GRAIN ROT Tips & Tricks
Before Your First Descent
Try the demo first if it's still available. The GRAIN ROT demo offers a genuine slice of the full loop -- 20+ unlockable constructs, 3 biomes, and 9 enemies -- enough to learn the possession system before committing to a full run.
Play with people you trust not to grief you too hard, at least for your first few runs. GRAIN ROT's physics-driven chaos means teammates can "accidentally" launch your Spark out of a vessel or block you in a dangerous corridor -- fun once you know what you're getting into, less fun as your very first impression of the game.
During a Run
Don't panic when your vessel breaks -- it's not game over. As a Spark, you can still guide teammates and search for a new vessel with a different set of abilities. Losing a vessel changes your options; it doesn't end your run by itself.
Know when to call it. The deeper you go, the more the Rot warps the environment and ramps up danger -- riding the elevator back up with what you have is often smarter than pushing for one more room.
Common Mistakes
- Wiping the whole crew in pursuit of one more piece of loot -- if everyone breaks, everything you were carrying is lost permanently, not just delayed.
- Ignoring the Grinder -- feeding scrap into it for gold is a real, intentional part of the economy, not just a side activity.
- Treating Spark-hunting as purely defensive -- a new vessel comes with a different ability set, so losing your old one can occasionally open up a better option than what you started with.
