How to Use Finder Cards and Survive Your First Monster

This isn't a repeat of the Overview page -- it's a practical look at using finder cards efficiently and surviving each mission's monster, based on official materials and player experience since the June 11 launch.

Ask the Most Narrowing Question First

Since your card selection each run is limited, prioritize questions that eliminate the largest portion of the map early rather than saving your most useful cards for later. A card that halves your search area is more valuable spent early than late, when you may already be running low on options.

Treat Your First Encounter With Any Monster as Reconnaissance

Since each mission's monster is confirmed to have genuinely mysterious, unlearned behavior at first, don't expect to survive a brand-new threat cleanly on your first real encounter -- observing safely from a distance when possible teaches you patterns that matter far more on your next attempt.

Save Items for the Final Stretch

Since protecting your final answer once the map is narrowed down is confirmed as the most dangerous, highest-stakes moment of a run, resist spending limited items reactively earlier -- hold them specifically for when you're closing in on the actual target location.

Facing the Flesh Taker and the Spriggan

Since these are both confirmed as especially unsettling threats, particularly once night falls and visibility drops, consider timing risky exploration for earlier in a mission when you can still see clearly, rather than pushing into unexplored territory after dark unless you have to.

Don't Expect the Full Story Yet

Since Acts 2 and 3 are confirmed as free future updates rather than available now, treat Act 1 as a genuinely complete opening chapter rather than expecting the entire branching narrative to resolve immediately.
