How Trader Progression Works in Escape from Tarkov

You start with access to only three traders — Fence, Ragman, and Therapist — and unlock the rest by completing main story quests and leveling your PMC, not simply by playing more raids.

Fence buys and sells a wide mix of goods and is available from the start regardless of quest progress, making it your fallback vendor early on.

If you're not interested in following the story closely, know that trader access is still gated by it — there's currently no way to skip ahead to later traders without progressing quests.
