Digimon Story: Time Stranger Wiki
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is the seventh installment in the Digimon Story series, developed by Media.Vision (with 24Frame) and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on October 3, 2025 (October 2 in Japan), and arrived on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on July 10, 2026. The game has sold more than 1 million units and takes place in the same universe as Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory, though set on a different timeline.
The Story
You play a secret agent -- selectable as either Dan Yuki or Kanan Yuki -- who awakens eight years in the past after a devastating explosion levels modern-day Tokyo. With time fractured and reality unraveling, you must uncover the truth behind the world's downfall, traversing both Tokyo and the Digital World of Iliad, meeting a wide cast of characters across parallel timelines whose choices shape the course of destiny itself.
A Real Gameplay Evolution: Symbol Encounters
Unlike previous Digimon Story entries, which used random encounters, Time Stranger uses "symbol encounters" -- enemy Digimon roam visibly around dungeons, and making contact with one triggers a turn-based battle. You can also switch your protagonist's gender at any point after your initial selection at the start of the game.
Collect, Train, and Battle Over 450 Digimon
The core loop revolves around collecting, raising, and training a vast roster of more than 450 Digimon, deploying them in strategic turn-based combat with deep customization options -- a scale genuinely larger than most prior entries in the series.
A Real Console-vs-PC Performance Discrepancy
Worth knowing: while the PC version supports up to 1080p/60fps even at low settings, console versions (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) are capped at 30fps -- a discrepancy some outlets have specifically criticized given how modest the PC requirements are by comparison. The PC version also does not use Denuvo anti-tamper technology.
Editions and Ongoing DLC Support
Standard Edition includes the base game, Uniform of a Certain School costumes, an Adventure Item set, and Black Agumon/Gabumon. Digital Deluxe adds the Cyber Sleuth Set Costumes and a Season Pass. Digital Ultimate adds a further Costume Pack (3 costumes per character plus 3 additional side missions) and early unlocks of special Agumon and Gabumon variants. The Season Pass has delivered 3 Additional Digimon & Episode Packs (the third releasing March 2026), and a further DLC expansion pass is planned for 2027.
