Choppa: Rescue Rivals

Choppa: Rescue Rivals Wiki

Choppa: Rescue Rivals is a physics-driven helicopter action-adventure from Finnish studio Parta Games, self-published on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch, launching simultaneously on both platforms August 13, 2026 after a genuinely long development journey -- the game was delayed from an original 2022 target, then again from 2023, before finally locking in its launch date.

The Premise

Step into the cockpit with Rick, a legendary rescue chopper pilot coaxed out of retirement for one last mission on a disaster-ravaged oil rig -- only to find himself in an unexpected scuffle with Burdock, his former wingman turned adversary, uncovering a sinister plot led by the malevolent A.C.R. corporation. As the stakes rise, Rick and his comrades from the Thunderbolt Rescue Foundation must outwit and outmaneuver their foes across a genuinely globe-trotting adventure -- from the snow-capped mountains of Nepal, through thick jungles and sandy deserts, to a burning offshore oil tanker.

A Modern Tribute to Choplifter

Confirmed as a modern-but-retro reimagining of arcade-style action games made famous by 1980s classics like Choplifter, the game blends chaotic, physics-based helicopter piloting with a Saturday-morning-anime story presentation. It's the follow-up to the original Choppa, which reached more than 4 million devices, and Parta Games has been direct that this sequel expands considerably on that original foundation.

Story Campaign, Couch Co-Op, and Aerial Soccer

The primary single-player story campaign confirms local couch co-op support for a second player, each controlling their own helicopter. A separate local multiplayer mode supports up to 4 players in what the developers describe as vehicular air hockey -- helicopter-piloted aerial soccer matches rather than rescue missions. Remote Play Together is also confirmed, letting two players share a co-op session online using a single purchased copy. A confirmed cosmetic system covers pilot characters, helicopter skins, and stickers, alongside rule-mutator options that let local multiplayer sessions be shaped to match the group.
