Burnstation Wiki
Burnstation is a physics-based roguelike deckbuilder set inside a cyberpunk arcade machine, the debut project from Klafti -- a two-person indie studio based in Montreal, Canada. It launches on PC via Steam on August 12, 2026, following a free playable demo.
The Premise
As a Runner, you aim a set of four marbles to hit data-nodes, trigger retro cartridges, and chain increasingly ridiculous combos, all in pursuit of pushing your score as high as possible. The catch: overclocking the Burnstation multiplies your score, but push your deck too far and it can literally burn out. This risk-reward loop is the game's entire identity -- a genuine balancing act between building something powerful and watching it all collapse.
Neo Shiba and Jimmy's RR Pawnshop
The game is set in Neo Shiba, where you'll spend time at Jimmy's RR Pawnshop -- a hub packed with illegal '90s hardware, confirmed to hold over 120 retro cartridges, processors, and specialized marbles. There's real, confirmed build variety here, with plenty of room to experiment and find broken, or brilliantly risky, combinations.
A Real, Nuanced AI-Content Disclosure
Worth knowing directly: the developers have been specific and transparent about their process -- artwork was created by human artists, with AI used only for color adjustments and final rendering, while character animations were AI-assisted.
