Which Character Should You Unlock First? Movement Perks Explained
This isn't a repeat of the Overview page -- it's a closer look at picking a character and approaching the Bone Shop loop, based on official materials ahead of the August 25 launch.
Movement Perks Matter More Than Raw Stats
Since traversal is confirmed as central to survival rather than a secondary concern, a character like Leggy or Bug -- built around climbing webs or flight -- may genuinely outperform a straightforward damage-focused pick in the game's wall-and-ceiling-heavy dungeons. Consider your movement perk as seriously as your weapon when choosing who to unlock and play.
Bank Every Run's Bones, Even Short Ones
Since the Dogmancer's permanent upgrades are confirmed to carry forward into future runs, visit the Bone Shop after every attempt regardless of how far you got -- even a short run's earned bones contribute to real, lasting progress.
Treat New Enemies as Learning Opportunities
With over 100 confirmed enemy types moving in genuinely different ways -- flying through walls, sticking to surfaces, bouncing around -- don't expect to counter an unfamiliar enemy cleanly on your first encounter. Observing and adapting is confirmed as core to the game's design.
Use the Demo Save Transfer to Your Advantage
Since demo progress is confirmed to carry into the full game, spend real time in the demo learning core movement and combat rhythm before launch -- it's not throwaway progress.
