BlazBlue: Entropy Effect X is an action roguelite from 91Act, published by Astrolabe Games, set in the BlazBlue fighting game universe. It launched February 12, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, with a Deluxe Physical Edition following February 20. It's confirmed as a genuinely expanded successor to the earlier BlazBlue Entropy Effect (Early Access 2023, full release January 2024) -- a different, distinct game built around a different protagonist, ACER, and traditional evotype-based Mind Training, rather than X's original story and 14-character roster.
The Premise
You play as Ace, a special existence capable of diving into the Sea of Possibility -- battling across twisted, ever-shifting dimensions, gathering mysterious Shards of Possibility, and uncovering the truth behind a world on the brink of collapse. Rather than the franchise's traditional 1-on-1 duels, X reframes BlazBlue as an action-focused roguelike platform adventure: you face surging hordes across a multi-level descent, suppressing threats and harvesting Shards along the way, all wrapped around a completely new, original story that expands the BlazBlue Entropy Effect universe in unexpected directions.

The full roster spans 14 unique characters from across the BlazBlue franchise, including signature techniques like Carnage Scissors and Hiyoku Getsumei, each possessing distinctive Potentials that combine freely with a wide variety of tactical Skills. Ability inheritance between characters lets players develop genuinely deeper builds, giving the game near-limitless character customization tailored to individual playstyles.
A Real Studio Redemption Story
Director Michael Jiang and the team at 91Act have spoken candidly about the project's uncertain beginnings -- moments where the studio's future felt almost hopeless before an outpouring of community support helped the original Entropy Effect achieve overwhelming success, allowing the team to rebuild and pursue an even more ambitious follow-up. That success led Arc System Works to grant 91Act deeper access to the BlazBlue universe than before, including a fully original storyline written by the series' own original scenario author.
Switch 2 Edition and a Free Content Update
On August 13, 2026, a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launched alongside a free major content update available across all platforms. The Switch 2 Edition adds enhanced visuals, an improved frame rate, GameShare support, and exclusive bonus content (an "Old World Fantasy" Platinum palette and a "Dango Balloon" chibi avatar), available to existing Switch owners via a $1.99 Upgrade Pack. The accompanying free update adds new playable character Platinum, an upgraded Training Space, and new branching route options for each run.
