Beast of Reincarnation Guides
Getting Started in Beast of Reincarnation
- ## Before Your First Fight
- Learn to parry before you learn to attack. Beast of Reincarnation's entire combat identity runs through its parry system -- press previews consistently compare it to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice almost directly. A successful parry doesn't just block damage; it fills the FP Gauge that unlocks Koo's Bloom Art command menu, so a dodge-only approach leaves real tools on the table from turn one.
- Watch both enemy gauges, not just health. Every enemy has a standard health bar plus a separate Down Gauge that fills as you land hits. Once it's full, you get a powerful takedown window -- chipping health with light pokes is a slower path to victory than building toward that opening.
- Pick a playstyle early and commit to its equipment. Game Freak has confirmed three distinct approaches: melee aggression (katana-focused), stealth assassination, and ranged play with bows or crossbows. Equipment -- katanas, ranged weapons, Koo's charms, and Spirit Stones -- is built around reinforcing whichever of these fits your combat feel, so bouncing between all three early can leave your build feeling thin. See our equipment breakdown for how the three gear systems interlock.
- ## During a Run
- Treat every Nushi as a mandatory story-gate, not an optional superboss. Defeating one absorbs part of its power into Emma as a flower mark, unlocking new abilities you'll need for the region ahead -- see our full Nushi breakdown for what's confirmed about the fight design and how many are expected.
- Use ranged weapons on big targets specifically, not as a general playstyle. Bows and crossbows exist mainly to hit weak points on large Nushi that sit beyond sword range -- treat them as a support tool for specific fights rather than trying to build a pure ranged run from the start.
- Don't skip the exploration between fights. The world isn't open-world, but it isn't fully linear either -- vast interconnected spaces hold secrets, loot, and hidden paths, and Emma's vine-growing traversal abilities (horizontal and vertical) exist specifically to reach them.
- ## Common First-Impressions Mistakes
- * Relying on dodging instead of parrying, which starves you of the FP needed for Koo's most powerful Bloom Arts.
- * Chasing raw health damage instead of building the Down Gauge for a takedown -- the takedown window is often the faster, safer kill.
- * Forgetting Koo has an active role at all -- the Bloom Art command menu briefly slows time specifically so you can make a real tactical choice, not just react on reflex.
- * Ignoring the pre-order Brown Shiba Skin and 30,000 Amber bonus if you were already planning to buy the game -- it's tied to pre-ordering specifically, not something you can claim after launch.
