Agent 64: Spies Never Die Wiki - FAQ
Is there permadeath or checkpoints within a mission?
No mid-mission checkpoints or healing stations exist -- if you're defeated, you restart the entire mission from the beginning, in the same tradition as the N64-era games this is inspired by. This has drawn some real, mixed community reaction ahead of launch.
What is Paradox Mode?
A collection of over 70 unlockable modifiers and cheats -- including Big Heads, Melee Disarms, slow bullet speeds, disabled reloading, and random weapon changes -- unlocked by beating a mission's par time and other trials, used for custom, often chaotic replays.
How many difficulty levels are there, and do they change more than enemy strength?
Three: Agent, Special Agent, and 64 Agent. Higher difficulties add more objectives and open up additional explorable areas within the same missions, not just tougher enemies.
Is there split-screen multiplayer?
Yes -- local four-player split-screen is confirmed, alongside 8-player online matches with up to 8 additional bots, across Deathmatch, Zone, and Briefcase modes.
Is unarmed 'slapping' in the game?
Yes -- the classic GoldenEye 007 house rule of unarmed melee slapping is confirmed to be included.
Is the game coming to consoles?
Console versions are planned following the PC launch, but the developer has described the timing as "confidential" -- no release window has been announced.
Is there a real controversy around this game?
Yes -- some community members have expressed genuine frustration on the game's Steam Community hub about the inclusion of kernel-level anti-cheat software, with some stating they won't purchase the game over it. This is a real, ongoing point of pre-launch friction worth knowing about.
