Units and Specialists in Tempest Rising

Tempest Rising has no traditional weapons to catalogue outside of its unit system -- units are the smallest controllable task force, whether a single footsoldier or a vehicle, and each has its own stats, abilities, and armor-type resistances.

Units must be stationary to attack -- they cannot fire while moving -- and unarmed units automatically keep distance from enemies via the passive Standoff Orders trait when moved as part of a group.

Infantry units (including all named Specialists like Captain Bronagh Cregan the sniper, or Comandante Vasco Delgado the drone assassin) resist Rocket and Cannon attacks but are very vulnerable to Fire and Sniper attacks, and can garrison certain structures for extra protection.

GDF plays as the balanced, no-gimmick intro faction; Tempest Dynasty trades higher cost for faster, more mobile units powered by storm energy, with some units gaining bonus effects when a Construction Yard's Martial Plan buff is active; Veti (from the Veti's Wrath expansion, free in multiplayer) can raise dead enemy soldiers as a resource called Enlightened to upgrade structures.

Since armor-resistance interactions matter as much as raw unit stats, matching your composition against what the opponent is fielding (rather than just building the biggest army) is the core skill Tempest Rising rewards.
