How to Balance Digging, Forging, and Defending Under Real Time Pressure
This isn't a repeat of the Overview page -- it's a practical look at managing the core loop's real time pressure, based on official materials ahead of the August 11 Early Access launch.
Don't Treat the Mines as a Pure Loot Run
Since returning late from the procedurally generated mines is confirmed to leave your teammates fighting the horde one dwarf short, efficiency matters as much as how much loot you bring back. Prioritize a clean, timely return over exhaustively exploring every hidden cave, especially in your early runs while you're still learning the mine layouts.
Plan Your Forge Targets Before You Dig
Since the Forge phase depends entirely on resources physically hauled back from the mines, decide roughly what upgrade you're aiming for before heading underground -- this makes your limited dig time genuinely more productive than grabbing metals indiscriminately.
Coordinate Roles in Co-op
Since the game supports up to 4 players and the core loop's time pressure is confirmed to scale with group size, discuss with your team who's digging, who's defending, and how you'll split attention -- especially since a late return genuinely weakens whoever's left holding the bastion.
Expect the Game to Have Changed Since Any Old Demo Footage
Since the original demo was specifically retired because the game had evolved past it, don't plan strategy around older gameplay videos -- treat the actual Early Access release as the current, authoritative version of the game's balance and systems.
