Weapon Stances Explained in Mistfall Hunter

Every class fights with 2 weapon stances that can be swapped mid-combat, and roughly half your active skills change with the swap -- your weapon is wired directly into the talent system, not just animations, so switching stances can enable or disable entire talent rows.

Mercenary: Sword & Shield (blocking and parrying) or Hammer (heavier AoE pressure) -- genuinely two separate weapons, not two modes of one.

Sorcerer: fights entirely with the Staff, but commits to one of two magic schools per run at camp -- Elemental (fire, ice, lightning) or Stardust (cosmic magic) -- rather than swapping schools mid-raid.

Blackarrow: fights with the Bow, integrating up to 3 special arrow types alongside normal shots -- treat arrows as part of the weapon system itself, not separate consumables, when planning a build.

Shadowstrix: Dagger or Dual Blades, the hardest class for a newcomer to commit to -- built entirely around stealth openers and short-range burst rather than sustained trading.

Seer: splits into two genuinely different weapons tied to a pre-run faith choice you cannot swap mid-fight -- Reverent uses the Catalyst for healing constructs, Blasphemer uses the Mace for curses and pressure.

Withered Knight: two separate weapons as well, following the same one-choice-defines-the-run structure as Mercenary, Shadowstrix, and Seer.

Because gem sockets are tied to the specific stance you are in (gems slotted in your main stance do not carry over to your secondary stance), plan two mini-builds per weapon rather than assuming one gem loadout covers both.
