Story Mode and Voice Cast in MARVEL Tokon: Fighting Souls
The Challenge of the Champion
The story mode (Episode Mode) is framed around the Champion of the Universe, an entity that has destroyed countless worlds for failing to produce worthy opponents and has now targeted Earth. His herald, the Promoter, announces the "Challenge of the Champion" -- forcing five teams of Earth's heroes and villains to fight through qualifying rounds before anyone can challenge the Champion directly, in a bid to save the planet from destruction.
Confirmed Voice Cast
Several actors are reprising roles from the Marvel vs. Capcom series specifically: Steve Blum (Wolverine, also voicing Green Goblin), Josh Keaton (Spider-Man, also voicing Iron Man), Brian Bloom (Captain America), Fred Tatasciore (Hulk), and Nolan North (Deadpool). Newer to the franchise are Mara Junot as Storm, Scott Porter as Star-Lord, Jason Spisak as Loki, Jesse Vilinsky as Magik, SungWon Cho as Doctor Doom, Erica Luttrell as Black Panther/Shuri, and Giancarlo Sabogal returning as Ghost Rider/Robbie Reyes from Marvel's Midnight Suns. Maxwell Powers voices the in-match announcer.
A Respectful Note
Doctor Doom's Japanese voice was recorded by Takaya Hashi, who passed away in August 2025 at age 72 -- making this his final credited role, released posthumously after his death preceded the game's launch by nearly a year.
Japanese Cast Highlights
On the Japanese side, Yuichi Nakamura (known for Gojo Satoru in Jujutsu Kaisen) voices Captain America, Miyuki Sawashiro (Kurapika in Hunter x Hunter) voices Storm, Koichi Yamadera voices Star-Lord, and Katsuyuki Konishi voices Ghost Rider. Several Japanese actors are also returning to roles they've voiced in earlier Marvel Anime series and animated adaptations from the 2010s.
