The Basic Tutorial is guided by John Victor, a veteran Hunter voiced by Doug Cockle (Geralt in The Witcher games) — complete it for a free Tier 1 Hunter plus 3 more with preset gear.
Traits cost Upgrade Points (UP), earned through play — Quartermaster (equip two large weapons) and Resilience (faster revive) are commonly taken early traits.
All Hunters sound the same aside from gender, so don't worry about losing track of your character's audio cues when you unlock cosmetic Hunters.
Corpses that burn out completely can't be looted — factor fire damage into how you finish off enemy Hunters if you want their gear.
