Getting Started in Elden Ring

Vagabond and Samurai are the most forgiving starting classes for a melee playstyle; Astrologer is the strongest beginner pick if you want to lean into sorcery instead.
Character appearance (including voice) can be changed later at the Roundtable Hold once you've met Melina — you're not locked into your first choice.
Stat respec is available after defeating Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, in exchange for Larval Tears.
Bosses can be summoned as co-op allies via Spirit Ashes if you're stuck — there's no shame in using them.
